Norman F. Millington, Sr

Newport, RI - Norman Francis Millington Sr., 72, formerly of 21 Fenner Avenue, Newport, RI, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Arlene Mello Millington and the late Catherine Joubert Millington. Born in Newport, RI, on April 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Josephine Pinto Millington.Mr. Millington had worked as a custodian for the Newport School Department for 23 years, retiring in 1996. He had also served with the Rhode Island National Guard for 14 years. He was a former member of the Weenit Shassit Tribe of Redman, a member of the RI Council 94, the Municipal Employees Union, Newport local 841 and the Newport Elks. He also worked for the former Manual Brothers Moving and Storage and the Bowler Van Lines. Mr. Millington was an avid bowler, Red Sox fan and New York Giants fan. He is survived by two sons Norman F Millington Jr. of Exeter, RI, and Brian Butler and his wife Patricia of Newport, RI, two daughters Susan Butler of Newport, RI, and Mary Ann Cunningham of Newport, RI, nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Raymond A Millington Jr.His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 10:00am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 from 4-6 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
