Norman M. Fucile, 73, of Evergreen Avenue, Middletown, RI, rounded third and is safe at Home as he passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at home with his family by his side.He was the husband of 50 years to his best friend and high school sweetheart, Ellen F. (Sharkey) Fucile.Born in Newport, RI on July 6, 1941, he was the son of the late John J. and Concetta M. (Quattrucci) Fucile.Mr. Fucile was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Newport, where he was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and the Ministry of Concilation and Visitation. He was a 1959 graduate of Rogers High School, a graduate of Johnson Wales University in Business Administration in 1961, and a 1965 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in Business Education, where he also received his M.A. in Youth-Adult Community Education in 1970. Mr. Fucile taught at Rogers High School from 1965-1970. He served as the Director of Community Centers Program at the University of Rhode Island from 1970-1975. He finished his professional career at N.U.W.C in Newport, RI after 20 years, retiring due to illness in 1992 as a Placement Officer.A lifetime fan of the Cincinnati Reds, he was a "true" baseball fan who enjoyed discussing the game of baseball with anyone. Mr. Fucile coached numerous Middletown Youth Baseball teams and was former President of the Middletown Babe Ruth League. He was an avid dog lover and a wonderful gentleman who despised war and violence and was a true pacifist. Mr. Fucile loved classical music, reading, writing poetry, and gardening.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher Michael and his wife, Lisa, of Spring, TX, Janet Ellen of North Kingstown, RI and Gregory Michael of Portsmouth, RI; four grandchildren, Nolan P. Ripa, Alexander R. Swartz, and twins, Samantha L. and Cameron M. Fucile; a sister, Elaine M. Faria of Portsmouth, RI; and a brother, John J. Fucile, Jr. of Florida.He was the brother of the late Eugene P. Fucile.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6-9 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.His funeral will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport, RI.
