Olivia V. Gomes

Olivia (Viera) Gomes, 98, of 16 Mt. Avenue, Bristol, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital of Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late George B. Gomes.Born in Little Compton, RI, on August 30, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Gene Rezendes Viera and Hortense (Almeida) Viera. She leaves her son George B. Gomes of Portsmouth, three sisters, Josephine Fournier of Massachusetts, Eleanor Silvia of Florida, and Estrella Riley of Portsmouth, three brothers Alfred Viera of Florida, James Viera and Benjamin Viera of Portsmouth, her niece Frances Collins of Portsmouth, her granddaughter with whom she lived in Bristol, Holly Prew and her husband Brian Prew, her grandsons Michael Gomes of Portsmouth, Robert Hoover of Fall River and Danny Hanson of Bristol, and her four treasured great grandchildren, Mariah, Shelbie, Cheyanne and Dalton Prew all of Bristol. She was the sister of the late Angelia Fava, Evallina, Joseph, Manuel, Gene and William. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 10:00AM, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
