Orrin A. Tubbs

Orrin Arthur Tubbs, 74, of 36C Glen Meade Drive, Portsmouth, formerly of Falmouth, Maine, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Virginia M. Bittner Tubbs. Born in Portland, ME on June 11, 1930, he was the son of Gerald L. Tubbs and Ruth Gardiner Tubbs. Mr. Tubbs met his wife while he was in the Air Force, during the Korean War. He was a 1956 graduate from Winona State in Minnesota receiving a degree in Art Education. Mr. Tubbs worked for Travelers Insurance unitl 1961 and then went to work as an Art Teacher in Wisconsin and Maine, in the elementry schools and high schools. He was an accomplished painter, and exhibited in many galleries throughout the country. Mr. Tubbs was a member of several art associations as well. Besides his wife of 53 years he is survived by two daughters Deborah A. Hill of Scottsdale, AZ, and Rebecca Heaton of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Donald Tubbs of Naples, ME, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren .A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2004, at 11:00AM, in Providence Presbyterian Church, 500 Hope Street, Providence, RI.Donations in his memory may be made to the Newport Hospital Foundation 11 Friendship Street Newport, RI 02840 or the Root Cellar 94 Washington Ave Portland, ME 04101.
