Palma Bavicchi Morang, 86, of St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol. RI, formerly of Keene, NH, died Thursday, November 4th. Prior to his passing in 2006, she was married to Charles H. Morang for 56 years.Born on April 5, 1924 in Dedham, MA. she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Sarah Nolfi Bavicchi.Mrs. Morang graduated from Wheaton College in 1947 with a BA Degree in English Literature. She moved with her husband to Newton, MA where she taught kindergarten and then served as the Field Director of the Newton Council of the Girls Scouts of America. She also served as a faculty member at the Boston College of Girl Scouting at Boston Latin School. She remained active in the Girl Scouts and devoted time to causes of importance to her throughout her life. She held several leadership positions and served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations including the American Association of University Women, the Womens Information Network and the League of Women Voters. She served as President and Vice President of the AAUW Keene and Concord branches respectively and was an active leader in the organization for over 20 years. She was also a Board Member of the Girl Scouts, served on the Board of Governors of the Newton Windsor Club, and served as the Ways and Means Chair and Treasurer, for the Newton Womans Club. She put her considerable talents to work for all the organizations she was involved in including organizing antique seminars. lectures, benefits and authored a successful cookbook. She considered her greatest success to be her family to whom she was devoted.She is survived by her son, Charles H. Morang III of Keene, NH; her daughter, Alexandra Jackson of Portsmouth, RI; her beloved grandchildren, Edward and Luke; several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of Robert Iafolla of Portsmouth, NH, John Bavicchi of Newton Highlands, MA and the late Michael Iafolla of North Hampton, NH and the late Ferris Bavicchi of Rye, NH.A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church of Bristol, 281 High Street, Bristol, RI on Monday, November 15 at 11 am.Donations may be made to AAUW at
