On December 18, 2015, Patricia A. Fucilli, a warm and gentle soul, passed; surrounded by her husband and her three children at home in Middletown. She was born on March 16, 1952 in Providence.She was the wife of Harold "Harry" Fucilli and they recently celebrated 27 wonderful years of marriage.Affectionately known as "Ma" to her husband, "Trish" to her family, "Pat" to her many friends and neighbors and "Meme" to her five grandchildren, she was loved by all.Pat graduated from East Providence High School in 1970. She worked as a waitress for over 30 years in area restaurants including Newport Creamery in Barrington, and most recently at Chili's in Middletown until her retirement due to illness.She enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader, and she loved country music, especially George Strait and John Denver.Pat and Harry spent many enjoyable days in the White Mountains of New Hampshire often traveling by motorcycle. They frequently went canoeing on the Saco River, hiking various trails, and just enjoying the mountain views or sitting with their feet in the water at Jackson Falls.Pat was a beautiful person, inside and out, always having a warm greeting, a kind word and a beautiful smile for everyone she met.Pat was known for keeping a meticulous home. She had a "green thumb" and always had many beautiful plants and flowers in her home. She also took great pride in "decorating" for the seasons. Pat fought a 15 year battle with cancer showing great strength, dignity, and spirit. She had great faith in God and enjoyed fellowship and Bible study with Pastor Jim Nelson and his group.She was the daughter of Harvey Mercier of Smithfield and the late Rita (Gauthier) Mercier. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Lois (Fucilli) Heaton.Besides her father and her husband, she is survived by her three children: Heather Raposa, David Raposa (Lisa), and Matthew Raposa all of Rhode Island and her beloved grandchildren Keven Cabral, Madison Cabral, and David, Jacob and John Raposa. Pat also leaves a sister and two brothers to whom she was very close: Sue Meyer (Jerry) of Colorado, Kevin Mercier (Joanne) of Rhode Island and Bob Mercier (Denise) of Massachusetts. She also leaves her brother-in-law, James (Bud) Heaton.Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI 02840.
