Patricia Ann Hilton Mcquillan

Patricia Ann Hilton McQuillan, 83, of Bristol, RI, and formerly of Fairhaven, MA, died peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred W. McQuillan.Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Lieutenant Commander and Mrs. Everett (Schabel) Hilton.Mrs. McQuillan graduated from New Bedford High School in 1948 and from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as a registered nurse in various positions, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven, MA.She also worked diligently with the Greater New Bedford Center for Learning Disabilities, previously serving as the publicity chairman. She and her husband were also honored as Parents of the Year in 1972 for their dedication to this organization.Mrs. McQuillan loved to paint, cook, read, and knit. She also loved animals and listening to Irish music.She was a maternal figure to many people who surrounded her. She will always be remembered as a kind, funny, loving, and amazing woman.She is survived by her daughters Amy E. Goes of New Bedford, MA, and Jane N. Gill (Michael) of Bristol, RI, her grandchildren Amanda McQuillan, Brianna McQuillan, Meghan Goes, Ryan Goes, Erin Gill, and Sean Gill, and her great granddaughters Layla Goes and Elayna Fernandes.Mrs. McQuillan was the mother of the late David McQuillan and the sister of the late Nathalie Olson.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, at 11: 00 am, at First Baptist Church of Bristol, 250 High Street, Bristol, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Adoption Rhode Island, Two Bradford Street, Providence, RI, 02903.
