Patricia Archer

Patricia Mary (McGrath) Archer, 80, of Newport and Middletown, wife of the late Augustus Archer, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Born on October 4,1944 in Teaneck, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Harold D. and Margaret K. (Hattenback) McGrath. She moved to Newport in 1960 and graduated from St. Catherine's Academy in 1962. She continued her education with an AAS degree from Elizabeth Seton College, a BS from Roger Williams University, and a Master's Degree from Salve Regina. Over her career, Patricia worked at Raytheon, Allendale Insurance, Old Colony Newport National Bank, and the Electric Boat Corporation, spanning 45 years in various program management roles.

Outside of work, Patricia was an active volunteer in the community, donating time and effort to Lucy's Hearth, Potter League, Newport Hospital, MLK Community Center, Meals on Wheels, and St. Lucy's Church. She also enjoyed traveling, golf, and skiing with the Newport Ski Club.

She is survived by her brother Daniel McGrath Jr. (Danah) of Marshall, VA, caregivers Jane Parrillo, Ella Murphy, Gale Palladino, and her good friend Jane Steele, as well as the Tremblay triplets, Elliott, Andrew and Nicholas, with whom she spent many happy hours babysitting.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 10:00am in St Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be private.
