Patricia Ann Jennings, 72, of Middletown, RI, formerly of East Providence, RI and Seekonk, MA, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Born in Newport, RI on June 8, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mary (Burgess) Jennings, sister to the late William Jennings and longtime partner of over 45 years to the late Jean Bourgeois.
Patty (to her family) graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Newport and Roger Williams College with a bachelor's degree in education. She started her teaching career in Seekonk Public Schools before being hired at Gordon School in East Providence, teaching fourth grade there for 36 years, from 1982 until she retired in 2018. She left an influence and legacy that will live on through her colleagues and most importantly, the many students who received her care, love and attention over the years. In her free time, Patty enjoyed cooking, baking, gathering with friends and family, dinners and a pink cosmo out with Jean, a good manicure and an occasional trip to the casino. Patty was also a selfless caregiver to her parents and many family members, and she will be remembered for her generous heart and warm spirit.
Patricia is survived by her two siblings, Amy Ciccone of Washington, DC and John Jennings, Jr. of Tiverton, RI; John's two sons, Andrew and Nicholas Jennings; and Andrew's children, Charlie, Alex and Juniper Jennings.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Church at 12 Marlborough Street in Newport, RI on Wednesday, April 23 at 4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to Gordon School, 45 Maxfield Ave, East Providence, RI. 02914. All gifts will be directed to the Gordon Fund for Economic Diversity, an area of Gordon's mission that meant a great deal to Pat.
