Patricia Carroll Lima Stewart, age 85, an award winning painter, passionate gardener, ardent reader, and longtime Tiverton, RI resident, passed away on April 4, 2011 from complications of Alzheimers disease. She was born in Fall River to Agnes Harrington and James Francis Carroll. Patricia was the wife of the late Earle W. Stewart and former wife of the late Henry Lima. A proud and devoted mother, she is survived by Constance Lima, Mary Kristen Lima, Carroll Feather all of Tiverton, Henry Chip Lima of Larbert, Scotland, James Lima of New York City, stepdaughter Leslie Simonson and was predeceased by stepdaughter Wendy Stewart. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Max, Robin and Ian Toste, Mary Burch, and was predeceased by granddaughter Stephanie Cook. She leaves behind her beloved four great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Evelyn Martin of Tiverton, and many nieces and nephews.Patricia led an active and social life ranging from international travel to weekly card games with local friends. She was an active member of the Sogkonate Garden Club, Westport Art Group, and the Art League of Bonita Springs, FL. As members of the National Camping Travelers NCT she and her husband Earle enjoyed traveling throughout the country where they made many friends. Patricia worked for several years with Earle at the business he founded, Tiverton Insurance Agency. Later she delighted in being a docent at Hammersmith Farm in Newport, RI.She was the sister of the late Margaret Braga, James, John, and Thomas Carroll, and Rita Pimental.Calling hours are on Monday, April 11th from 6:00-8:00pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Contributions in her honor may be made to: Tiverton Library Foundation, PO Box 455, Tiverton, RI 02878.
