Middletown, RI ? Patrick ?Mac? McDonough, 58, of 12 Wilson Road, Middletown, RI, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Newport Hospital, after a one month struggle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Joanne Burgess McDonough. Born in Lockport, NY, on February 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Lee McDonough.Mr. McDonough served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked at the Bristol Post Office for 29 years as a letter carrier and he was also a bartender at the Kinsmen Tavern and My Brother?s Place. Mr. McDonough was a communicant of St. Lucys Church. Mac was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and a member of the Postal Union # 57. Besides his wife of 30 years, he is survived by his son Ryan P. McDonough of Middletown, RI, his daughter Meaghan and her husband Steven Schreiner of Bristol, RI, his brothers Kevin McDonough of Lockport, NY, Jeffrey McDonough of Newfane, NY, Mark McDonough of North Tonowanda, NY, and Terrence McDonough of Sarasota, FL, his sister Bridget McDonough of Sarasota, FL, his mother in-law Dorothy Burgess and his brother in-laws Gerard Burgess of Newport, RI, and James Burgess of Middletown, RI, and his sister in-law Mary Ellen Burgess of Watertown, MA. He was the brother of the late Timothy McDonough, the son in-law of the late George Burgess Sr., and the brother in-law of the late George Burgess. His funeral will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006, at 8:00a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00a.m. in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2006, from 4-7p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
