Portsmouth, RI - Patsy Carbo, 83, of 20 Debra Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Virginia Mae Kinder Carbo. Born in Brookfield, OH on January 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Patsy and Dolores Condi Carbo.Mr. Carbo served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He grew up in Pennsylvania and his first job was at Wheeland Tube. He then moved to Rhode Island and he worked as a caretaker for the Van Buren Estate, then as a supervisor at Transcom. Most recently he worked as a presser for Polo Cleaners until he retired at the age of 78. Mr. Carbo was an avid bowler where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He also loved fishing, making his own wine, growing flowers and his own vegetable garden. He was also a life member of the V.F. W. Mr. Carbos family extends a special thanks to Judith for the special care she gave Patsy over the last several years. He is survived by two brothers Anthony Carbo of Florida and Gerald Carbo of Ohio, his sister Rosemary Jankiewicz of Sharon, PA, two granddaughters, Larenda Kay Codwell and Megan Mae Pearson of Georgia, and his neighbor, friend and adopted daughter Judith Barto and her husband Brent of Portsmouth, RI.He was the father of the late Patsy Eddie Carbo and the brother of the late Ralph Carbo. His funeral will be private.
