Tiverton - Paul C. Hill, Esquire, 83 of the Villages of Mount Hope Bay, Tiverton passed away peacefully on 17 October 2015, with his children and grandchildren at his side. He loved time spent with family. Paul was born in Melrose, MA the son of the late Helen and Charles E. Hill of Everett, MA.Paul was very proud to be a double Eagle, having been a graduate of both Boston College and the Boston College Law School in Chestnut Hill, MA. He finished his legal training, proceeded to the Bar and was admitted to practice in MA, NY, RI and the United States Supreme Court during his career. After law school, Paul served his country as a Captain and Judge Advocate General for the US Army in Virginia, and continued with a lengthy career as a contracts attorney serving several corporations in Massachusetts, Vermont, New York, and culminating in Providence where he was Senior Counsel in the Corporate Legal Division at Textron. Not only did Paul have a distinguished career as a corporate counsel, but he often selflessly served as wise counsel and counselor for family, friends and interested parties. He most recently served as counsel for the Trustees for the Association of Owners at the Villages at Mount Hope Bay. Paul loved to argue the facts, was better at it than almost everyone, and was usually right. His favorite subjects were history and our United States Constitution, and he recounted events of 20th century political history with his razor-sharp attention to legal detail. Paul was a very athletic man who enjoyed watersports, tennis and golf. He encouraged his children to join him in his athletic passions, particularly on the ski slopes. He also loved to teach and play chess with his grandchildren.Paul is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane (Dornig) Hill. Together, they took countless adventures and made everlasting relationships with neighbors, friends, and extended family. Paul and Jane loved to be near the water, to travel, and no matter where, would be at the center of the room, enjoying the moment and laughing infectiously with their company.Paul is survived by his four children, daughter Maureen Hill Collins and her husband Duff of Sharon MA; and sons Paul C. Hill Jr. and his wife Tricia of Mansfield, MA; Joseph D. Hill of Concord, MA; and Patrick M. Hill and his wife Karen of Gambrills, MD; and his nine grandchildren who loved their Grampy very much: Scott Hill, Justin Collins, Matt Hill, Samantha Collins, Kristen Hill, P.J. Hill, Robin Hill, Logan Hill, and Caroline Hill. Paul is also survived by his brothers Richard Hill and John Hill.Calling hours are from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, 23 October 2015 at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI on Saturday, 24 October 2015. Burial will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton, RI. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions and condolences be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and/or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
