Paul F. Smith

Middletown, RI - Paul F. Smith, 88, of 11 Donald Drive Middletown, formerly of Gaffney, SC, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Rita Bouley Smith and the late Laura Gamala Smith. Born in Lancaster, SC on September 5, 1915, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Ann Fayssoux Smith. Mr. Smith was an Officer in the United States Navy during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was also a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, RI and also a member of the Masons from the Pearl Harbor Lodge. He is survived by three sons Donald W. Smith of Middletown, RI, Robert P. Smith of Newport, RI, and Leonard C. Smith of Sydney, Australia, a stepson Warren B. Blakeley of Middletown, RI, two sisters Vermel Dixon of Charleston, SC, and Doris Harmon of Gaffney, SC, and five grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Charles Smith, Howard Smith, Raymond Smith, Donald Smith and Ruth Tripp.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at 11:00 AM in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Marys Churchyard in Portsmouth.Arrangements are by the Hambly Funeral Home, ?Brick House?, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.
