Paul Peter Cekala Jr

Middletown, - Paul Peter Cekala Jr., 59, of 12 William Drive Middletown, formerly of Cottage Street, Newport, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at home. Born in Hope Valley, RI on November 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Paul P. Cekala and Virginia Dodd Cekala. Mr. Cekala worked at the James L. Maher Center for twenty-eight years. Paul was also a dishwasher for a local restaurant. Mr. Cekala had participated in the Special Olympics. Mr. Cekala had received support services through Looking Upwards, Inc., since 1979 and was active throughout the agency. Mr. Cekala attended St. Jospehs Church in Newport. He loved country western music, dancing, singing, parties and socializing. He is survived by his brother John J. Cekala of South Kingstown, RI, three sisters Jean Bellamire of Smithfield, RI, Virginia Wattrous of Pittsfield, ME, and Antoinette Johnson of Westerly, RI, several nieces and nephews and his companion of twenty years Lisa Matthews of Tiverton, RI. He was the brother of the late Phillip Cekala. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 7:30 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 10:00 am in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.
