Paul Vincent Quinn, Jr., 59, of Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, September 23, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (Sylvia) Quinn and proud father of their daughter Christina.Born April 5, 1953 in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Paul V. and the late Dolores (Grover) Quinn. Paul graduated from Providence College with a BS in Health Care Administration and went on to receive his Masters in Health Care Planning from the George Washington University in Washington, DC and a Masters in National Security/Economics and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, RI. He was commissioned into the United States Navy where he served for twenty years as a Medical Service Corps Officer. After his retirement from the Newport Naval Hospital, he held the position of Vice President of Physician Development and Support Services for 16 years at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA. Two weeks before his diagnosis of mesothelioma in November 2011, he was named Vice President of Physician Services and Faculty Enterprise at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, RIBesides his wife of 30 years and his daughter, he is survived by his siblings, Eileen Edwards and her husband Stanley of Arvada, CO, Gilbert C. Quinn of Naples, FL, Rosemary Quinn-DeAngelo of Wilmington, MA and the late David Quinn, his mother-in-law Maria Alexandra Sylvia of New Bedford, MA, his brother-in-law David John Sylvia, his wife Veronica and their children, Alex and Sean of South Africa and several other nieces and nephews.Paul will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his friends and his co-workers, his unwavering strength and courage, his passion for all sports, especially golf, his love of gardening, and perhaps most of all his unique sense of humor.The family would like to extend their thanks to the warm and caring Hospice staff of the Visiting Nurses Services of Newport and Bristol County as well as to all his kind and thoughtful friends and family who provided him with continuous love and support throughout his final journey. Visiting hours are Wednesday, September 26, 2012, from 5-8pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 9:00AM from the Connors Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
