Pauline McGowan Guthrie Portsmouth, RI - Pauline McGowan Guthrie, 91, a former longtime resident of Portsmouth, RI and Middletown, RI, died on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Winchester House, in Libertyville, IL of natural causes after a long struggle with Alzheimer?s Disease. Pauline was born On February 5, 1916 in Somerville, MA to the late Agnes McGrath McGowan and James Grant McGowan.She was the youngest of seven children.Pauline married her high school sweetheart, the late, Edward Martin Guthrie in 1942.Pauline was the mother of three children: Paulette Guthrie Thomas and her husband David of Lake Bluff, IL, Edward Martin Guthrie and his wife Linda of Ballston Lake, NY, and Richard James Guthrie and his wife Cheryl of Goleta, CA, she was the grandmother of eight grandchildren, and great-grandmother of four.Pauline will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her for her strength of character, her wisdom, her humor and for the tremendous pride she held for her family and the absolute love and delight she felt for her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
