Peter Dalenberg, age 90 was personally welcomed into heaven by Jesus Christ on August 13, 2012. For almost 66 years, he was the husband of Willia Mae (Harman) Dalenberg; they were married November 23, 1946. Peter was born in the village of De Cocksdorp, Texel in the Netherlands on February 18, 1922. He was the son of the late Hendrik (Henry) and Antje (Anna) Dalenberg. Peter was the second son of a family of four, and after the family's immigration to the United States, he completed his schooling, graduating from Garfield High School in NJ. After high school, Peter became a United States citizen and enlisted in the US Navy following the attack on Pearl Harbor. After training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station near Chicago, IL, Peter was assigned as a gunner's mate to the new destroyer, the USS Converse just completed in Bath, Maine. His destroyer squadron, the "Little Beavers," under the leadership of the famous Admiral Arleigh "31 Knot" Burke, quickly cruised to the Pacific Theater, where those ships fought the enemy in major engagements both at sea and on numerous islands. After he was discharged honorably from the Navy, he courted and married Willia Mae Harman and had seven children whom they raised in Mahwah, NJ. In addition to his loving wife, Peter is survived by his 7 children: Donna Roberts and husband Peter of Portsmouth, RI; Peter Jr and his wife Nancy of Ft. Myers, FL; Danny and his wife Vickie of Buckhannon, WV; Timothy and his wife Terri of Bristol, IN; Bonnie Peterson and her husband Dwight of Clarks Summit, PA; Elizabeth Dalenberg of Lynchburg, VA; and Kathleen Hasse and her husband Mitchell of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his brother Karl Dalenberg and his sister Margaret (Dalenberg) Tagliabue. "Uncle Pete" was also loved and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. He was a positive example to all who knew him of a proudly patriotic American, a diligent hardworking man who instilled that quality into others, of a faithful, loving husband for almost 66 years and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Peter Dalenberg has also left a legacy of unselfish, sacrificial giving to the Lord's work, and in that spirit, we respectfully request that in lieu of flowers which will quickly fade, donations for an eternal impact would be made in his name to the ministry that Peter and Willia supported the longesta" RBC Ministries (formerly known as Radio Bible Class) Box 2222 Grand Rapids, MI 49501-2222 or on the web at

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you, by the word of the LORD, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by NO means precede those who are asleep. For the LORD Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words." I Thessalonians 4:13-18
