Middletown, RI - Peter F. Silvia, 63, of 6 Murphy Circle, Middletown, RI, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Sandra Sam McLeish Silvia. Born in Middletown, RI, on May 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Anna Silvia Silvia.Mr. Silvia had worked as a scheduler in the shipping and receiving department at Raytheon for 37 years, retiring in 2004. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Silvia was a Graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1963. He had also worked at Kempenaars Clambake Club for over 20 years. Peter loved being involved in fund raisers for numerous charities and those in need on Aquidneck Island. Mr. Silvia was a member of the New England Antique Truck and Tractor Association and was a Past Grand Knight for the Middletown Knights of Columbus.Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons Jason P. Silvia of Chicago, IL, Andrew C. Silvia of Zanesville, OH, and John S. Jemo of Middletown, RI, a daughter Stacey A. OHanley of Rockland, MA, two brothers Joseph Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, and John Silvia of Dighton, MA, seven sisters Anna Leonard of Bristol, RI, Rose Amirault of Green Valley, AZ, Mary Stoneciepher of Poway, CA, Theresa Garcia of Middletown, RI, Cecilia Leary of Newport, RI, Helen Bailey of Goshen, IN, and Claire Pimentel of Savannah, GA, two grandchildren Penelope Silvia of Chicago, IL, and Caleb Silvia of Zanesville, OH, and many nieces and nephews.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 8:00 a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
