Peter Fanning

Tiverton, RI - Peter M. Fanning, 61, of 907 Main Road, Tiverton, RI, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at home unexpectedly.Born in Fall River, MA on November 24, 1950, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Sullivan Fanning.Peter graduated from De La Salle Academy in Newport, RI in 1968 where he was an all-state performer in cross country and track. He graduated from St. Johns University in Queens, New York in 1972 where he lettered in track. Peter had a successful professional career as an executive for 25 years in the retail industry.He is survived by his son Matthew Fanning of Charlottesville, VA, his brother James F. Fanning of Pittsburgh, PA, his sisters Laura Fanning McLaughlin and her husband Jim of Loudon, TN, and Mary Fanning Durant and her husband Bob of North Hampton, NH, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012, from 5-7 pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 7:30am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 am in St. Christophers Church, 1660 Main Road, Tiverton, RI.Burial will take place in St. Patricks Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River.Donations in his memory may be made to Bridgemark, 2020 Elmwood Avenue, Warwick RI, 02888.
