Philip John Druken, Jr., 75, of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away at his home on July 13, 2024.
Born in Newport on August 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Philip John Druken, Sr. and Bridget Kinsella Druken of this city. Philip enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served in Germany and Korea, and was honorably discharged. A life-long Newporter, Philip had many jobs through the years, ending his working days at Newport Jai Alai. Philip's quick wit, followed by a chuckle and a grin, will be dearly missed.
Philip is survived by his siblings Patrick J. Druken, of Newport, Kathleen M. Sullivan, of Tiverton, and Claudia A. Sweeney, of Ledyard, CT, and many nieces and nephews. Philip was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret M. Manning, brothers-in-law David J. Manning Sr and Paul A. Sweeney, and sister-in-law, Valerie A. Robinson Druken.
Thank you to Beacon Hospice of Rhode Island for their care over the last few months. A special thank you to our friend and nurse Mary Connors for her unconditional compassion.
Services for Philip will be private.
One of Philip's greatest attributes was his unwavering kindness. Please honor his memory by spreading kindness wherever you go.
