Phillip E. Brian, 63, of 150 East Shore Road, Jamestown, RI, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at South County Hospital, Wakefield, RI. He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Gayron Brian.Born in New York, NY, on October 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Ernest H. and Mildred Kronk Brian.Phillip grew up in New York and spent his summers on Shelter Island, where he developed a love for the ocean and boats. He spent much of his early life in New York and New Jersey, where he raised his daughter. Phillip began his working career in New York as a purchasing manager. He returned to school for further education, and became a computer programmer for various companies in New Jersey. Throughout his life, Phillip was an industrious and dedicated worker, building furniture and additions to his home, as well as boat models. His analytical skills and thoughtful approach to living rendered him prepared and calm in any crisis. This preparedness served him well, both on land and on the water. He and Liz married in 1990; in 1999, after several years together in New Jersey, they moved to Jamestown, where they remodeled an old summer home and were able to enjoy more time traveling and sailing together. He volunteered for several years at the Museum of Yachting in Newport.Along with his wife of 20 years, he is survived by his daughter Kristine Betlejewski and her husband Jonathan of Plano, TX, and his grandchildren Jonathan and Taylor Betlejewski.
