Phoebe M. Lyons

Tiverton, RI - Phoebe M. Boardman Lyons, 88, of 60 Summit Avenue Tiverton, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at home.She was the wife of the late John A. Lyons Sr. Born in Fall River, MA on October 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dougherty Boardman. Mrs. Lyons was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School Class of 1933. She attended classes at URI. Mrs. Lyons was an operation assistant at Bank Newport for 15 years. She was a girl scout leader, a member of the Tiverton Yacht Club, the Tiverton Senior Center and was a Communicant of St. Christophers Church. Mrs. Lyons enjoyed world travel with her husband, she was an avid reader, bridge player and was a talented water color artist. She is survived by her son John A. Lyons Jr. of Rixeyville, VA, four daughters Dr. Mary P. Lyons of Johnston, RI, Frances E. Sammons of North Kingstown, RI, and JoAnne M. Lyons and JoEllen L. Hunt both of Portsmouth, RI, two brothers Edward J. Boardman of Kerrville, TX and Joseph T. Boardman of Pawtucket, RI, four sisters Mary Flanagan and Rita Perreault both of Fall River, MA, Eunice Simmons of West Bridgewater, MA and Arline White of Swansea, MA, and ten grandchildren.She was the sister of the late George Boardman.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 9:30 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Christophers Church, 1584 Main Road, Tiverton. Burial will be private.
