Phyllis E. Younger Dukes

Phyllis Younger Dukes, age 82 of Newport, RI, passed away at Heatherwood Nursing Center in Newport. Phyllis was born June 7, 1930 in Westwood, MA, the daughter of the late James H.W. and the late Florence (Barstow) Jenner, and sister of Lois Jenner of Duxbury, MA.Phyllis grew up in Westwood and Duxbury, MA, graduating from the Duxbury High School in 1948. While living in Duxbury, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Phyllis worked for several years in mental health services, both in halfway houses and at the Danvers State Hospital. She had always been an animal lover, and for many years had an Iguana and still had a parrot. For the last 17 years, Phyllis lived in Newport and was an active volunteer for the Newport Public Library and continued with some work in the mental health field. She is survived by her children Daniel C. Bennett of Danvers, MA, Diane Martha Dean of NC, Nathaniel William Bennett of Searsmont, ME, Jefferson Webster Bennett of New Orleans, LA, Grace Younger Leger of Orange, MA, and Jody Ann McNamara of Methuen, MA. She was predeceased by her son, Jonathan Paul Younger. Her grandson Cole Younger of Newport has been her primary caregiver for the last few years. She is also survived by 11 other grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Her funeral arrangements are to be announced.
