Phyllis Hope (Johnson) Bradley, 71, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Newport Hospital.She was the wife of Leon Bradley.Born on March 29, 1944 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Virginia (Weston) Johnson. Phyllis graduated Rogers High School in 1962 and left Newport to pursue a nursing career in Boston. That dream was cut short after meeting and marring her husband of 53 years. That union brought forth two children and five grandchildren and 3 great grands. Phyllis loved shopping, spending time with her family, and going about town with her husband and sisters. She was also very fond of working in her church on Wednesdays in our food pantry. She had a very deep love for her church and her Pastor. She will be missed by all, especially her husband, family and friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Leon C. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Arlene Johnson, William Weston, Gordon Johnson and Harold Weston.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2015, from 10-11am in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport, RI, followed by her service at 11am.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown.
