Rachel Rioux

Middletown, - Rachel Desrosiers Rioux, 98, of John Clarke Nursing Center Middletown, died Monday, March 10, 2003 at John Clarke Nursing Center Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Rene Rioux. Born in Quebec, Canada on March 22, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Cleophe and Leontine Robichaud Desrosiers.At the age of 25 she left Canada and settled in Springfield MA living on Carew Street, until she got married and moved to West Hartford CT. While living in Connecticut she and her late husband owned and operated the former Stair and Cabinets of West Hartford. In 1987 she moved to Middletown to be with her daughter and close to her extended family. Mrs. Rioux enjoyed her summer home in Weekapaug, RI. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late Madeline Cooke and the sister of the late Henry Desrosiers Paul Desrosiers, Joseph Desrosiers, Benoit Desrosiers, Corrinne Desrosiers, Claire Desrosiers, Collette Desrosiers, Catherine Desrosiers, and Simone Desrosiers.Her funeral and burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude Place Building, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
