Raymond A. Millington, Sr

Portsmouth, RI - Raymond A. Millington, Jr., 79, of Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Julia Ann Foust Millington of Portsmouth. Born in Newport, RI, on January 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Josephine Pinto Millington, Sr. Mr. Millington served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a firefighter for the Newport Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He then went on to work for the Newport Restoration Society for Doris Duke as a painter for many years and then at the Sheraton Goat Islander as a head engineer, finally retiring from work in 1993. He is survived by his children Herman J. Millington of Brooklyn, NY, Brian Murphy of Boston, MA, Judy Cook and Tina Ford both of Middletown, RI, Lori Ames of Portsmouth, RI, Diane Dods of West Hartford, VT and Jackie Murphy of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Norman Millington of Middletown, RI, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Raymond A. Millington, III and the husband of the late Gilda Amaral Millington he was also grandfather of the late John Millington and Ronald Toretta, II. His funeral will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008, at 11:00am, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
