CPO Raymond Francis Bradic, USN Ret.Pensacola, FL - CPO Raymond Francis Bradic, 80, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died in Pensacola on May 17, 2011. Mr. Bradic was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on November 27, 1930 to the late Lena Bradic, but was raised from infancy by his foster mother, the late Cordelia Lewis, in Newport. He was a devoted husband to Mildred F. Bradic Galloway for 55 years. He received Christ at an early age and was a member of Community Baptist Church, formerly Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Mr. Bradic attended schools in Newport and was a graduate of Rogers High School, Class of 1951. He was active in athletics as a child and was a member of the Rogers High School football and baseball teams. He was also a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees.Mr. Bradic always had a passion for military service. He saw his dream realized when he joined United States Navy in 1950. He joined during the Korean Conflict and served his country with dignity and compassion. He served aboard the USS Stoddard, the USS Willis A. Lee, the USS Borie and numerous other ships. As an active serviceman, he completed numerous destroyer operations which included Mediterranean tours of duty and operations off the Atlantic Coast. He achieved the rank of Boiler Tender Chief BTC in 1963. He was also active with the Military Police when he was stationed at the Washington Naval Station, Washington, D.C. Before retiring in 1970, he served in the White House Military Transportation Department during the Richard Nixon Administration.Upon his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Bradic worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Bristol and Portsmouth for many years . He was also devoted to his wifes dance school and was known as the prop master. He and his wife later relocated to Pensacola , Florida.In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving daughter, Estrellita L. Bradic of Los Angeles, CA.; a son, Wilbur H. Kennedy of Boston, MA; two granddaughters, Ayesha Johnson and Ayanna Johnson, both of Boston, MA.; three great-grandchildren, Khyeme, Maggie and Aryanna Johnson, all of Boston, MA; two cousins, Deniece Pilgrim of Paramus, New Jersey and Shirley Jones of Palm Beach, FL; his brother-in-law, Frederick Galloway and his wife, Pat, of Culver City, CA; sisters-in-law, Bealuh Galloway of Raleigh, NC and Dolly Galloway of Randolph, MA; a host of nieces and nephews and his family dog, Mickey.Preceding him in death are his sons, Lenardo Bradic and Paul Kennedy; daughter, Arlene Kennedy; foster brother, Theodore Baskins and paternal grandparents, Frederic Bradic and Caroline DeWolf Bradic. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Newport Memorial Park , 123 Howland Ave., Middletown, RI on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Dr. Vincent Thompson of Community Baptist Church will be officiating.
