MIDDLETOWN,- Raymond Almeida, of Middletown, RI died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI in 1930 he was the son of the late Joseph and Belmira Abreu Almeida.Mr. Almeida served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had 40 years of Federal Service at NUSC/NUWC Station. He was state representative of the State 10 Pin Bowling Association and a member of the Rogers Alumi. He was an avid supporter of the University of Rhode Island. He is survived by his sister Virginia D. Caldemone, two nieces, Maureen Messer and Lorraine Jenkins, three nephews, Anthony Caldemone, Paul Campion and Wayne Campion, two cousins Rev. John Abreu and Mary Ann Bronco, one great nephew Ernest Dwayne Souza and a great-great nephew and great-great niece. He was the brother of the late Mary A. Campion, Irene Conrad and Anna Almeida. His funeral will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.
