Raymond Robert Corridon, met his maker on 11 December, 2014, two months short of completing his 84th year.Born 5 February, 1931 in Providence, RI, he was the son of Robert and Florence (Dougay) Corridon, and spent his growing-up years a "Swamper" like two generations before him in Newport. Ray was a husband and father, baseball coach and teacher. Ray served in the US Navy Reserve and the US Army Air Corps. He served as Deputy RI Game Warden and then formed a civil service career as a Torpedo Technician and later as Explosive Safety Officer at NUWC-Newport. He was a Major in the Newport Artillery Company and a member of the Newport Rifle Club. He enjoyed discussions of technology pertaining to firearms, computers and engineering. He was also a lifelong conservationist, outdoorsman and advocate of our Second Amendment rights. Ray was known to council friends and strangers on these varied experiences in an effort to teach them safety with valuable ancient wisdom he had learned from his mentors.Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Steve and his wife, Kathy, of Texas and Dave and his wife, Ann, of California; and two grandchildren.Please join us for a celebration of his life and times at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport, RI on 2 January, 2015 at 11 am.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 or to the Wounded Warrior Project (
