Raymond Walter Allen

Newport, RI - Raymond Walter Allen, 87, of 131 Eustis Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Betty Hartz Allen of Newport. Born in Chunky, MI on December 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Joe Berry and Eva Moore Allen. Mr. Allen was a Captain in the United States Navy, serving in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1974 after 31 years. He was an avid sailor and scuba diver. Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his children, William Raymond Allen of Livonia, MI, Thomas Stewart Allen of Newport, RI, and Marcia Allen Field of Milwaukie, OR, his brothers Houston Allen of Silver City, MS and Robert Allen of Orlando, FL, and his grandchildren Jennifer Haines of Folcroft, PA and Kalynda Hamilton of Lebanon, IN.He was the brother of the late William E. Allen, Douglas E. Allen, James L. Allen and Lula Opal Seal. Funeral services are private.
