Richard A. Warnke

Richard A. Warnke, 74, of East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.He was the loving husband of the late Jill Ann Renaud Warnke.Born in Worcester, MA on April 6, 1937, he was the son of the late John and Mary Cecilia Costello Warnke.Mr. Warnke was a lifetime member of the New Hampshire Jaycees and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Martins Parish in Somersworth, NH. He enjoyed playing golf and loved all of the New England Professional and college sports teams. Mr. Warnke, and with his late wife, were longtime residents of Somersworth, NH and moved recently to Portsmouth, RI from Keene, NH and had previously resided in Leesburg, FL. In 2006, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking a trip to Ireland. He is survived by his children, Richard P. Warnke and his wife, Elyse, of Howell, NJ, Ann Rash and her husband, Kevin, of Berwick, ME, Karen ONeill and her husband, Brian, of Shrewsbury, MA, Jean Schultz and her husband, Thomas, of Brattleboro, VT, and JoAnn Black and her husband, Thomas, of Portsmouth, RI; his grandchildren, Alexandra Schultz, Matthew Schultz, Samuel Black, Noah Black, Brianna Rash and Molly ONeill; and his sister, Justine Maloney of Arlington, VA. He was predeceased by his brothers John and William Warnke.His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:30 am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am in the funeral home just prior to the funeral Mass.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 901 Jefferson Boulevard Warwick, RI 02886.
