Newport, RI - Richard D. Boiani, 84, of Newport, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Lorraine Anne (Lamarre) Boiani. Born in Newport, RI on September 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Tito and Elizabeth (Cuveroni) Boiani. Mr. Boiani was a 1946 graduate of Rogers High School. After school he enlisted in the US Army serving two different times once in Italy during World War II and then re-enlisted during the Korean War. He was a life-long carpenter working for various local carpenters including Perini Corp. of Framingham, MA. Mr. Boiani was an avid pheasant hunter, enjoyed fishing from the shore and dogs. Besides his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his brother Dr. James Boiani and his wife Letitia of Geneseo, NY, his sister-in-law Lillian Boiani of Southboro, MA, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman Boiani and Col. Peter Boiani and the brother-in-law of the late Gertrude Boiani. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 9am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.
