Newport, RI - Richard ?DL? Donohue, Jr., 66, of 16 Champlin Place, Newport, RI, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on May 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Richard and Madeline Pike Donohue.Mr. Donohue served 5 years in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed in Japan. For a brief time he served on the Newport Police Department. He worked at Raytheon for over 30 years and retired in 2003. ?DL? as he was known among his friends, was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Newport. He also enjoyed fishing when he was younger. He is survived by his children, Richard Donohue III and his wife Tiffany of Mill Valley, CA, Kevin Donohue of Newport, RI, and Melissa Prater and her husband Ian of Newport, RI, his sister Alicia Larson of Los Altos, CA, his grandchildren Morgan Silvia, Reese Prater, Noah Prater, Devon Donohue, Jack Donohue and Jake Donohue and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nancy Donohue. His funeral will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
