YNC Richard Douglas Schlosky, USN (Ret.), 81, of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Cochituate, MA passed away peacefully on March 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.Married for 61 years to his grade school sweetheart Janet Yarrish Schlosky, he was the son of the late Walter and Lillian Murphy.Loving father of Susie Rucando and her husband Adam, Mark and his wife Kit, Diana Grinnell and her husband Laurance, and the late Ricky Schlosky.Proud grandfather of Kelly and Emily Rucando, Stephanie and Timothy Schlosky, and Morgan Grinnell.Born September 22 1934, Richard was a proud 20 year Navy Veteran, a member of the Portsmouth United Methodist Church, and the VFW, a former school committee member, past President of the PHS Band Boosters, and coach of the Valhalla Vikings Babe Ruth team. He loved theater and was involved in the Portsmouth Community Theater, performing in many plays.
