Richard E. Sullivan

Portsmouth, RI - Richard E. Sullivan, 75, of Henry Davis Ct., Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Noreen Curt Sullivan. Born in Fall River, MA on June 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Mary Etta Curran Sullivan.Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River. He had played professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers during the 1950s. Mr. Sullivan resided in Portsmouth for the past year and a half, previously living in San Clemente, CA and Tiverton, RI. He was a former communicant of St. Christopher Parish in Tiverton. He is survived by his children, Carleen Griffin, Cheryl Sullivan and Richard E. Sullivan, all of Newport, RI, Christine Roy of Portsmouth, RI and Carolyn Ware of Duquesne, PA, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Walter Sullivan, Robert Sullivan and Dorothea Sullivan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 9:00 am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
