Richard F. Lapointe

Richard F. ?Dick? Lapointe, 73, of Portsmouth, RI died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his home.He was the husband of Kathryn M. Viall Lapointe.Mr. Lapointe was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Wilfred and Mary Woods Lapointe.Dick was employed by Verizon Communications for 34 years retiring in 1988 as an Engineering Manager.He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army.Besides his wife of 31 years, he leaves his daughter, JoAnn M. Pan and her husband Michael of Somerset, MA, two sons, Michael J. Lapointe and his wife Bonnie of Northbridge, MA and Richard J. Lapointe and his wife Nancy of Uxbridge, MA, four grandchildren, Adam and Trevor Pan and Zackary and Samuel Lapointe, a sister, Gloria Mello of Plymouth, MA, a sister-in-law, Dolores Lapointe of Milford, MA, many nieces and nephews and his beloved Shelties, Quint and Marena.He was the brother of the late Donald W. Lapointe of Milford, MA.Dick cherished his family and friends and his many years spent boating and fishing on Narragansett Bay. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and woodworking.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI. Burial with military honors will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RIVisiting hours are respectfully omitted.
