Richard H.(Randall) Dinsmore, 67, died peacefully at home in Newport, RI, Monday, September 15, 2014.Born in Minneapolis, MN on August 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard E. andMaryllyn M. (Williams) Dinsmore.Mr. Dinsmore had a long career in Radio Broadcasting and Journalism before retiring. He worked locally in the Cleveland/Chattanooga market for more than 25 years. He was better known as the radio D.J. Rich Randall on many local stations including: KZ-106, US-101, TALK FM, and Alive!95. He also spent time in Cleveland as a Journalist both in print and online. Richard served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and later in life was a Warrant Officer for the TN State Guard. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and was a Charter member of Chapter 596 of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Cleveland TN. He enjoyed sports, trivia, history, reading and was known as a cub scout leader to many. He loved the beach and the mountains. Raised Roman Catholic and became a member ofAsbury United Methodist Church during his years in Cleveland; his faith was an important part of who he was.He is survived by his children, Carrie Dinsmore of Kentucky, David Haynes, RichardE. Dinsmore II and Matthew Dinsmore , all of Atlanta, GA, and Benjamin Dinsmore ofNewport, RI; his grandchildren, Adriana Staples, Roman Dahl, Mica O'Neil and SawyerDinsmore; his great-grandchildren, Teddy Lynn Staples and Dylan Michael Staples; hisbrother, Tom Dinsmore of Minneapolis, MN; and his sister, Laurie Hauge of Sioux Falls, SD.We invite you to come share thoughts and memories with the Dinsmore family this Thursday September 25th 2014 between 6pm and 8pm at the Cleveland VFW - 3370 N.
