Richard James Munro

Portsmouth, RI - Richard James Munro, 63, of Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at home.He was the husband of Elizabeth A. Sousa Munro. Born in Newport, RI on July 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Franklin and Abby Mack Munro.Mr. Munro worked as a maintenance supervisor for 32 years for the State of Rhode Island, retiring in 2007. He was a member of St. Michaels Church in Bristol and active in Channing Memorial Church in Newport. Richard enjoyed singing, especially on 1st night at the Seamans Church Institute. Besides his wife of 32 years, he is survived by his sons Joshua C. Munro and Benjamin D. Munro of Portsmouth, RI.He was the brother of the late Robert P. Munro. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 2pm, in St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
