PORTSMOUTH, RI - Richard Lucius Stafford, II, 79, of 538 Park Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of the late Jean Marie Marshall Stafford. Born in Fall River, MA on May 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Lucius B. and Lena Suprenant Stafford. Mr. Stafford was a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Navy. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1973 after 24 years of service.He was a life member of the VFW, Retired Officers Association, the Disabled American Veterans, the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 19, the Portsmouth Senior Center and the NRA. He is survived by his sons Richard L. Stafford III of Lagrange, GA, Robert A. Stafford of New Britain, CT, and Roy E. Stafford of LaMesa, CA, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Raymond Stafford and Ada Stafford. His funeral will be held on Monday, August 8, 2005, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth.
