Richard "Rex" Anderson

Portsmouth, - Richard ?Rex? Anderson, 55, of 1 Cathy Circle, Portsmouth, formerly of Blackwell Place, Newport, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at home. Born in Yokahoma, Japan on Jan. 13, 1949, he was a son of Dorothy Greatorex Anderson of Middletown and the late Richard P. Anderson. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Anderson worked at the Newport Daily News from 1973-2000, working last as a press room journeyman. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Brian M. Anderson and Kevin D. Anderson, both of Newport, RI; his former wife, Linda Kardel Anderson of Middletown; two brothers, Eric Anderson of Middletown, RI and Donald B. Anderson of North Dartmouth, MA; one sister, Robin R. Anderson of Newport, RI, and a Granddaughter, Peyton Elizabeth McKinney of Middletown. His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 18, at 11:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial with military honors will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Donations may be made in his memory to charity of donor?s choice.
