Newport, RI - Richard Santos, 65, of Newport, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 23, 2014 at home in Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Patricia M. "Tinny" Kuiee. Born in Newport, RI on June 24, 1948, he was the son of the late Herman S. Santos and Ann E. (Turner) Santos. Richard was an avid fisher and pool player. He loved music and DJing. He retired after 27 years as a civil service worker and was currently employed by the James L. Maher Center for 14 years. He is survived by his sons Richard Grant Santos Jr. and Joseph Paul Santos of Newport, RI, his siblings Lamont "Pat" MaGee and Herman "Pug" Santos, his grandchildren, Kristen R .Santos, Mylee C. Santos and Celestine Zimmerman and many cousins, nieces and nephews all residents of Newport, RI. He was the grandson of the late Geraldine Santos and Rhoda Riley Turner. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a prayer service at 7pm. Immediately following the family would like to invite all to share his memory with them at the VFW off of Connell Highway, Underwood Lane, Middletown.Burial will be private.
