Richard W. Gallagher, 86, of Tiverton, and formerly of Middletown, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Annes Hospital in Fall River, MA.He is the husband of Helen Stashkow.Born on March 26, 1928 in Middletown, PA, he was the son of the late William and Esther (Deimler) Gallagher.Richard was a 30 year veteran of the Navy and achieved the rank of Senior Chief. Throughout his career in the Navy, he traveled to ports all over the world. Richard loved to cook and garden, and loved reading. He liked going to the movies and the theater.He was a resident of Middletown, RI for 27 yearsBesides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his nieces and nephews; Joan Pineau and her husband Paul, of Seekonk, MA, Suzanne and Larry Castle, of Lake Worth, FL, Sally and Bill Treadwell, of Jacksonville, NC, Sandy and Les Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Larry and Becky Gallagher, of Pottstown, PA, Donnajoy and Ben Mosser, of Middletown, PA, and Beth, Jenny, and David Miller.He was the brother of the late James R. Gallagher, Donald W. Gallagher and Grayce L. Gallagher.Burial will be private.Donations may be made in his name to your favorite charity.
