NEWPORT, RI ? Richard W. ?Dick? Sullivan, Jr., 71, of 87 Girard Avenue, Apt. 215, Newport, RI, formerly of 22 Morgan Street, Newport, and Little Compton, RI, died Friday, December 16, 2005, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI, on November 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Richard W. and Eleanor Miller Sullivan.Dick had worked as an appliance repairman for many years at JT OConnells. After leaving JTs, he started his own appliance repair business, named A and D. As a young man, he went to work for his father at the National Butter and Egg Store. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Among many of his talents, Dick enjoyed geneology, wood working, computers, and telling jokes.He is survived by a son Richard W. Sullivan III of Little Compton, RI, a step son Charles Alfred Davenport of Little Compton, RI, his former wife Deborah Bodington of Little Compton, RI, a brother John Francis Sullivan of Middletown, RI, three sisters Kathryn F. and her husband Julius Borges of Middletown, RI, Ethel M. Allen of Middletown, RI, and Patricia A. and her husband Timothy Sant of Newport, RI, eight nephews, six nieces, seven great nephews, and eleven great nieces.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 10AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Tiverton.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to A Wish Come True, Inc., 1845 Post Road, Warwick, RI, 02886.
