Rita A. Spicer, 81, of North Dartmouth, MA, formerly of Aquidenck Island, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA.She was the wife of Walter L. Spicer.Born in Newport, RI on May 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Souza) Silvia.Mrs. Spicer worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in the moving and storage industry for over 60 years. First, beginning with the former Manuel Brothers Moving Co., later becoming Bowler Moving Co., Boiani Moving Co., and the present J.J. Web Inc. Moving Storage Co. in New Bedford, MA.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Walter L. Spicer, Jr. of North Dartmouth, MA; her sister, Flora Frank and her husband, Duane, of Tiverton, RI; her niece, Kathryn Vieira and her husband, Michael of Portsmouth, RI; her nephew, Stephen Scott of Bristol, RI; and several additional nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Celia Scott and John Silvia, and the aunt of the late Richard Scott.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 8 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI.Inurnment will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/donate).
