Rita C. Toppa

Rita Claire Toppa passed away in her sleep Wednesday, December 11, 2024. "Pixie" as she was known to all who loved her, spent the last months of her life with the wonderful people at Village House Nursing Home. When she moved into Village House, she soon became the life of the party. Her endearing personality lifted the spirits of staff and fellow residents alike. She shared her love of family with everyone she met. Telling them about family and friends parties, anniversaries, and BIRTHDAYS! She loved birthdays! The first question she asked when she met someone was "What is your birthday?". She had the uncanny ability to instantly remember the birthday and lock it in forever. You could ask her for anyone's birthday, she would smile and tell you. Rita loved her music, playing her favorite songs for hours on end. She worked doing janitorial work though services provided by the James L Maher Center.

Rita was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Dorothy Rita Toppa and sister to the late Dorothy Rachel Mederios and Robert Nicholas Toppa. She leaves behind brothers William Toppa, Nicholas Toppa Jr and Stephen Toppa. Also, her sisters in law Joanne Toppa, Cheryl Toppa, Anne Spelt Toppa, Karen H Toppa, Peggy Toppa and brother-in-law Ronnie Mederios. And of course, her many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held, Monday, December 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery Middletown.
