Portsmouth, RI - Lt. CDR Robert A. Dube, USN, ret. 88, of 61 Pine Tree Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.He was the husband of Jeanne Madeline Bessette Dube. Born in Pawtucket, RI on November 10, 1921, he was the son of the late Harmon and Alida Laliberte Dube.Mr. Dube retired from the United States Navy in 1970 after 30 years of service as an Officer serving in the WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.. He worked at NUSC as a Naval Laison for 12 years retiring in 1983. Mr. Dube was a communicant of St. Barnabas church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, enjoyed camping and traveling all over the world. Besides his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his sons Robert A Dube Jr. of Newport, RI and Paul T. Dube of Portsmouth, RI, his daughters Jacqueline Cruz of Bristol, RI, Michele Polselli, Elaine McDermott and Denise Oliveira all of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Florian Dube of Central Falls, RI, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Maurice Dube, Sylva Dube and Roland Dube he was also the step-brother of the late Henry Pruneau, Claire Lebrecht and Cecile LaFlamme. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 9:30 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 4-8 in the funeral home.
