Robert B. Barker

Robert B. Barker, 81, of Tiverton died Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Village House Nursing Home of Newport, RI. Born November 23, 1930, in Portsmouth, RI, he was the son of the late Warren and Florence (Spooner) Barker. He was the husband of Muriel G. (Jean) Barker for almost 58 years. Mr. Barker served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by RIPTA as a bus mechanic for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert K. Barker of Middletown, RI, Denise J. LaChappelle and Charlotte J. Sousa both of Tiverton, RI, his sister Barbara Cody of Jamestown, RI, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 10:30am, in St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton, RI.Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Village House Activities Fund, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
