Newport, RI - Robert Hatton Barker, Jr., 48, of 529 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Catherine Morton Barker. Born in Chicago, IL, on June 17, 1963, he was the son of Nina Feggestad Barker of Highland Park, IL, and the late Robert H. Barker, Sr. Bob graduated with a BS from Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He worked for 20 years for the University of Phoenix rising to the level of Executive Vice President, before starting his own company 7 years ago, Barker Educational Services Team B.E.S.T.. Bob was family-oriented, very charitable and philanthropic, very sociable and was a loyal friend to many across the country. Bob will be remembered for his humor, singing, and his love of family and friends. Besides his mother, and his wife of 20 years, Katie, he is survived by his children, Brendan Barker and Amanda Barker of Newport, RI, his siblings, Paul Barker of Phoenix, AZ, Tracy Barker of Highland Park, IL and Heidi Blankenship of Bellevue, WA. He was predeceased by his brother, Eric Barker.Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 4-7pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 8:30 am from the Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Avenue, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in his memory may be made to BU Medical Center, Amyloidosis Treatment and Research Program, at www.bu.edu/amyloid/.
