Robert Butler Finn

Portsmouth, RI - Robert Butler Finn, 80, of 25 Garden Street Portsmouth, formerly of Hyde Park, MA, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at RI Veterans Home Bristol, RI.He was the husband of the late Veronica Clements Finn. Born in Hyde Park, MA on December 7, 1923, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary Butler Finn. While living in Hyde Park, Mr. Finn raised Irish Setters and English Pointers and owned the former Red Velvets Kennel in Dedham, MA. He began his career as a Machinist at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard in Boston, MA, while working there he became a foreman and then an Inspector for the Navy. He went on to work for the former Williams Manchester Shipyard in Newport, RI as a General Manager. Then he worked as General Manager for Newport Shipyard until he began his own company Boulevard Marine in Newport, until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Finn was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by two daughters Claire-Marie Osman of Portsmouth, RI, and Nancy J. Tucker of Westwood, MA, a brother James W. Finn of Dedham, MA, a sister Mary Dion of Warren, MI, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Catherine Fleming, Anna Catterson, Thomas Finn and John Finn. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.
